ARTS!Lafayette Mission Statement

The mission of ARTS!Lafayette is to support the growth of arts, artists, and organizations that further Lafayette’s identity as a creative community.  

We do this by:

  • Raising funds for cultural arts.

  • Funding cultural arts endeavors through organizational and direct
    community support.

  • Encouraging public interest in cultural arts, activities, services,
    programs and facilities.

David Fodel, President

David Fodel is an artist, writer and curator whose eclectic installations, live performances, award-winning sound design and video works have been exhibited, screened, and performed internationally including ISEA, Hong Kong; TiMaDi, London, England; Post-Screen Festival, Lisbon, Portugal; Festival ECUA-UIO, Quito, Ecuador; Future Places Festival, Porto, Portugal; Transmediale, Berlin, Germany. His work has been written about in Wired Magazine, and published by the Experimental Television Center, New Media Caucus, Post-Screen Festival, and Sekans Cinema Journal. Residencies include the National Center for Contemporary Art, Moscow, STEIM, Amsterdam, and the Experimental Television Center and Signal Culture in New York. David co-founded the MediaLive Festival, is Director of the Lafayette Electronic Arts Festival [LEAF], and a Fellow at the Media Archeology Laboratory.

Mark Moffett, Vice President

Mark Moffett is an artist, maker, pyrotechnician, firefighter, soda jerk, pickle-eating champion, and former king of Toledo, Ohio. He has exhibited work in Detroit, Houston, Columbus, Ohio, New York, as well as Glasgow, Scotland. Mark moved with his family to Lafayette in 2011. Since relocating to Colorado, he has both exhibited and curated exhibitions throughout the Denver area, including a solo exhibition at Understudy Gallery. In 2015, Mark expanded into the field of stage design, special effects, and pyrotechnics. In 2018, he co-founded the Colorado Flame Effect Guild and became a Colorado State Licensed Pyrotechnician the following year. Mark has served on several other local arts boards, including the Arts HUB, the Lafayette Public Art Committee, and Maker Faire Denver.

Laura Mays, Treasurer

Laura Mays is an art enthusiast working to promote the positive impact art brings to people and community along with business and economy. She has an MBA from CU Denver and currently works in the world of IT data management. Laura grew up in Boulder and, after 10 years living away, determined Boulder County was a great place in the world to live. She’s called Lafayette home since 2003. She adores the community Lafayette has become and strives to be an active part in supporting its arts and community as it grows. She has been volunteering at Art Night Out in the summer since its beginnings – she loves how it brings together people and art in such a celebratory setting and thinks everyone should give volunteering a try!

Amber Wood, Secretary

Amber has been a resident of Lafayette since 2013. As general manager of the Little Herbal Apothecary in downtown Lafayette, she enjoys playing an active part in supporting the community. She is passionate about the arts and the role they play in connecting people and broadening perspectives.

Stacey Bernstein, Board Member

Stacey Bernstein is an artist, Public Art Coordinator for the City of Lafayette, and retired art educator. She’s called Lafayette home since 2001, served on the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission and Public Art Committee, and joined the ARTS!Lafayette board in December 2017; she served as President 2019-2022. She believes that the arts are essential to a healthy life and community.

Alanna Fernandez, Board Member

Alanna has lived in Lafayette on and off since 2017. She has enjoyed watching the town grow and continuously support the local arts community. As an advocate for self expression and creativity, she recognizes the arts' true power in both building and strengthening our community.

Luis Garcia, Board Member

As an advocate for both technology and the arts, Luis Garcia brings a blend of skills and passion to the board of ARTS!Lafayette. Hailing originally from Montana and Wyoming, he found inspiration and connection through the cultural diversity while living in New York City for a few years. With roots planted in small-town values, Luis returned to the West and settled in Lafayette's close-knit community in 2022. A seasoned software engineer, he embodies the spirit of a maker as well. Despite his technical nature, he harbors a deep-seated appreciation for the arts, inherited from a lineage of music educators within his family. Luis is committed to fostering the growth of artistic expression within the community, supporting local artists, and nurturing Lafayette's identity as a hub of creativity.

Kyle Gutierrez, Board Member

Kyle Gutierrez is a lifelong resident of Lafayette and owner of Cannon St. Ceramics. As a ceramic artist, Kyle draws inspiration from the process of creating with clay and employs a variety of different techniques. Outside of the studio, Kyle enjoys music of all genres, horror movies, and the outdoors!

Rachel Hanson, Board Member

Rachel Hanson has been active in arts development and programming in Lafayette since 2008. Her mission is to help nurture the growth of the Lafayette arts and culture scene as part of a greater picture which will cultivate a vibrant, energetic, and creative community in her hometown. Rachel served on the Public Art Committee from 2008 – 2012. She is a founding member of ARTS!Lafayette and served as President for many years. Rachel is currently the Director of City of Lafayette Department of Arts and Cultural Resources. She enjoys working to plan, implement, and promote the arts and cultural events in her community. A long-time resident of Lafayette, Rachel is also a sometimes artist. 

Andrew Reagan, Board Member

Andrew has been both a Lafayette resident and an Art Night Out volunteer since 2017. He will freely admit to having no artistic talent, but has always been an admirer of the arts and its power to bring us together. When he isn't grinding away at his day job as a financial analyst, he enjoys traveling (30+ countries and counting), running and watching movies.
