ARTS!Lafayette Mission Statement
The mission of ARTS!Lafayette is to support the growth of arts, artists, and organizations that further Lafayette’s identity as a creative district and
a cultural arts community.
We do this by:
Raising funds for cultural arts.
Funding cultural arts endeavors through organizational and direct
Encouraging public interest in cultural arts,
activities, services, programs and facilities.
Stacey Bernstein, President
Stacey Bernstein is a visual artist, retired art educator, and works as the Public Art Coordinator for the City of Lafayette. She’s called Lafayette home since 2001, served on the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission and Public Art Committee from 2009-2015, and joined ARTS!Lafayette in December 2017. She believes that the arts are intrinsic to a healthy life and community.
Heather Bair, Vice President
Heather Bair is an adjunct professor at Regis University & Naropa University while also a practicing psychotherapist in Old Town Lafayette. They love working with children, young adults, individuals, and the LGBTQIA+ population. Lafayette has been home since 2012. Heather believes in building community through art. Since childhood, they have been involved in creative processing, animal rescue, and nature-based adventures. Heather also serves Lafayette as a member of the
Public Art Committee.
Laura Mays, Treasurer
Laura Mays is an art enthusiast working to promote the positive impact art brings to people and community along with business and economy. She has an MBA from CU Denver and currently works in the world of IT data management. Laura grew up in Boulder and, after 10 years living away, determined Boulder County was a great place in the world to live. She’s called Lafayette home since 2003. She adores the community Lafayette has become and strives to be an active part in supporting its arts and community as it grows. She has been volunteering at Art Night Out in the summer since its beginnings – she loves how it brings together people and art in such a celebratory setting and thinks everyone should give volunteering a try!
Amber Wood, Secretary
Amber has been a resident of Lafayette since 2013. As general manager of the Little Herbal Apothecary in downtown Lafayette, she enjoys playing an active part in supporting the community. She is passionate about the arts and the role they play in connecting people and broadening perspectives.
David Fodel, Board Member
David Fodel is an artist, occasional teacher, writer and curator whose eclectic installations, live performances, award-winning sound design and video works have been exhibited, screened, and performed internationally including ISEA, Hong Kong; TiMaDi, London, England; Post-Screen Festival, Lisbon, Portugal; Festival ECUA-UIO, Quito, Ecuador; Future Places Festival, Porto, Portugal; Transmediale, Berlin, Germany. His work has been written about in Wired Magazine, and published by the Experimental Television Center, New Media Caucus, Post-Screen Festival, and Sekans Cinema Journal. Residencies include the National Center for Contemporary Art, Moscow, STEIM, Amsterdam, and the Experimental Television Center and Signal Culture in New York. He is Director of Testing for Artemis Vision, a machine-vision engineering company and sometimes teaches electronic media arts at local universities. He co-founded the MediaLive Festival, is Director of the Lafayette Electronic Arts Festival [LEAF], and a Fellow at the Media Archeology Laboratory.
Rachel Hanson, Board Member
Rachel Hanson has been active in arts development and programming in Lafayette since 2008. Her mission is to help nurture the growth of the Lafayette arts and culture scene as part of a greater picture which will cultivate a vibrant, energetic, and creative community in her hometown. Rachel served on the Public Art Committee from 2008 – 2012. She is a founding member of ARTS!Lafayette, and now plans Art Night Out each year and serves as the volunteer coordinator for that event. Rachel currently works in City of Lafayette Department of Arts and Cultural Resources. She enjoys working to plan, implement, and promote the arts and cultural events in her community. A long-time resident of Lafayette, Rachel is also a sometimes artist.
Mark Moffett, Board Member
Mark Moffett is an artist, maker, pyrotechnician, firefighter, soda jerk, pickle-eating champion, and former king of Toledo, Ohio. He has exhibited work in Detroit, Houston, Columbus, Ohio, New York, as well as Glasgow, Scotland, and was selected for the special exhibition titled “Anticipation: New Artists to Watch” at the Chicago International New Art Forms Exposition (SOFA). Mark moved with his family to Lafayette in 2011. Since relocating to Colorado, he has both exhibited and curated exhibitions throughout the Denver area, including a solo exhibition at Understudy Gallery. In 2015, Mark expanded into the field of stage design, special effects, and pyrotechnics. In 2018, he co-founded the Colorado Flame Effect Guild and became a Colorado State Licensed Pyrotechnician the following year. Mark has served on several other local arts boards, including the Arts HUB, the Lafayette Public Art Committee, and Maker Faire Denver.
Bryn Pennington, Board Member
Bryn Pennington is grateful to live with her family in the vibrant, arts-oriented community of Lafayette, CO. Her dedication to the arts has taken her to many diverse cities in CA as a multicultural arts and arts event organizer, then to graduate school in NYC where she worked as an assistant to an art collector and consultant. Along the way she studied art theory and education in Florence, Italy, where she was part of an international arts collective. She earned an MA in Education researching arts integration and equity, and has worked as an art and classroom teacher for over two decades. Currently, she's a proud member of the Louisville Elementary School community and serves on the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission. She's honored to be on the Arts!Lafayette Board.
Mattie Pomeroy, Board Member
Mattie Pomeroy is a visual artist, has lived in Lafayette since 2016, and has been a Boulder County resident since she was a child. When not attempting to make art, Mattie enjoys cooking and spending time with her family and dog Rumble.
Connecting with and supporting a loving and inclusive community is one of her passions, and she is excited to continue and strengthen that passion through Lafayette’s ever-growing arts community.
Lynn Wooton, Board Member
Lynn Wooton is a past resident of Lafayette and she is proud to volunteer in a community that supports artists and their art! Wooton is a retired Sr. Market Manager, Community Engagement at American Cancer Society.
