ARTS!Lafayette Mission Statement
The mission of ARTS!Lafayette is to support the growth of arts, artists, and organizations that further Lafayette’s identity as a creative district and
a cultural arts community.
We do this by:
Raising funds for cultural arts.
Funding cultural arts endeavors through organizational and direct
Encouraging public interest in cultural arts,
activities, services, programs and facilities.
Stacey Bernstein, President
Stacey Bernstein is a visual artist, retired art educator, and works as the Public Art Coordinator for the City of Lafayette. She’s called Lafayette home since 2001, served on the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission and Public Art Committee from 2009-2015, and joined ARTS!Lafayette in December 2017. She believes that the arts are intrinsic to a healthy life and community.
Heather Bair, Vice President
Heather Bair is an adjunct professor at Regis University & Naropa University while also a practicing psychotherapist in Old Town Lafayette. They love working with children, young adults, individuals, and the LGBTQIA+ population. Lafayette has been home since 2012. Heather believes in building community through art. Since childhood, they have been involved in creative processing, animal rescue, and nature-based adventures. Heather also serves Lafayette as a member of the
Public Art Committee.
Laura Mays, Treasurer
Laura Mays is an art enthusiast working to promote the positive impact art brings to people and community along with business and economy. She has an MBA from CU Denver and currently works in the world of IT data management. Laura grew up in Boulder and, after 10 years living away, determined Boulder County was a great place in the world to live. She’s called Lafayette home since 2003. She adores the community Lafayette has become and strives to be an active part in supporting its arts and community as it grows. She has been volunteering at Art Night Out in the summer since its beginnings – she loves how it brings together people and art in such a celebratory setting and thinks everyone should give volunteering a try!
David Clark, Secretary
David Clark is a Boulder native and has lived in Lafayette since Y2K. He’s an insatiable iPhone photographer and retired technical writer/graphic designer who loves Lafayette and is grateful for the robust Lafayette art scene.
His goal is to help that grow.
Susan Booker, Ex officio Board Member
Susan Booker is the Director of Arts and Cultural Resources for the City of Lafayette which means she gets to dabble in public art, poetry readings, recruiting artists for galleries in city owned facilities, facilitate community awareness of cultural opportunities, and preserve our history. She worked for many years in public libraries before putting on her current hat. She’s passionate about the role all of the arts can play in bringing people together, building community, healing hurts, awakening the spirit, and making people think, dance, make changes, and laugh.
David Fodel, Board Member
David Fodel is an artist, occasional teacher, writer and curator whose eclectic installations, live performances, award-winning sound design and video works have been exhibited, screened, and performed internationally including ISEA, Hong Kong; TiMaDi, London, England; Post-Screen Festival, Lisbon, Portugal; Festival ECUA-UIO, Quito, Ecuador; Future Places Festival, Porto, Portugal; Transmediale, Berlin, Germany. His work has been written about in Wired Magazine, and published by the Experimental Television Center, New Media Caucus, Post-Screen Festival, and Sekans Cinema Journal. Residencies include the National Center for Contemporary Art, Moscow, STEIM, Amsterdam, and the Experimental Television Center and Signal Culture in New York. He is Director of Testing for Artemis Vision, a machine-vision engineering company and sometimes teaches electronic media arts at local universities. He co-founded the MediaLive Festival, is Director of the Lafayette Electronic Arts Festival [LEAF], and a Fellow at the Media Archeology Laboratory.
Rachel Hanson, Board Member
Rachel Hanson has been active in arts development and programming in Lafayette since 2008. Her mission is to help nurture the growth of the Lafayette arts and culture scene as part of a greater picture which will cultivate a vibrant, energetic, and creative community in her hometown. Rachel served on the Public Art Committee from 2008 – 2012. She is a founding member of ARTS!Lafayette, and now plans Art Night Out each year and serves as the volunteer coordinator for that event. Rachel currently works in City of Lafayette Department of Arts and Cultural Resources. She enjoys working to plan, implement, and promote the arts and cultural events in her community. A long-time resident of Lafayette, Rachel is also a sometimes artist.
Jill Lyford, Board Member
Jill is a Boulder county native and has been back in the Lafayette area since 2000. She lives near Old Town and enjoys being close to everything Lafayette has to offer. Although not an artist herself, she appreciates and supports Arts in the community.
Eve Orenstein, Board Member
Eve Orenstein is a nonprofit management professional with extensive experience in development and marketing focusing on individual giving, event planning, and institutional giving and is currently Director of Development at the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra. She has previously held positions at Curious Theatre Company, Project ALS, The Foundation Fighting Blindness,
Cal-Wood Education Center, Turtle Bay Music School, and Sponsors for Educational Opportunity, among others. Eve is a member of the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission and sits on the board of ARTS!Lafayette. A professional opera singer, Eve received her Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music and performs regularly in operas and concerts in Colorado and with the National Chorale at Lincoln Center in New York and is half of the opera/electronic duo, Orbiting Olympia. She founded the Colorado chapter of Opera on Tap in 2011 and produces themed opera nights and staged operas in non-traditional venues throughout the Front Range. Her passion for building community around food led her to start Mile High Swappers, a homemade/home grown food swap group that presents monthly events.
Lynn Wooten, Board Member
Lynn Wooton is a past resident of Lafayette and she is proud to volunteer in a community that supports artists and their art! Wooton is a retired Sr. Market Manager, Community Engagement at American Cancer Society.
